Sulk no more. Memorial Day gave us, weather-wise, what I had been hoping for all weekend long. And we took advantage.
It was a day where the bags were packed and we were out of the house shortly after 10am and didn’t come back in until it was time to wash up and go to bed. We were all tired. The kind of tired you only get by spending a day, a full day, in the sunshine.
And, it was the perfect day to take my new (made by me) skirt for a spin!
The pattern is Amy Butler’s Barcelona skirt. The fabric is by Michael Miller.
The first garment I’ve (successfully) sewn for myself. The first zipper I put in and it really is as invisible as they say!
There are plans for at least a few more skirts for summer. Simple a-line skirts have to be my favorite summer gear. And, given that nothing really fits quite right in my closet, it’d sure be nice to have a few more skirts to sport to change things up once in awhile (and feel good about myself while doing it).
After I master the skirt, what else should I try? For me, that is, I’m wanting to be a little selfish at the sewing machine.
