Project 365 – March

(click on the photo to head over to Flickr to see all the pictures)

Three months down but this one, like the last, has a few little bumps. First of all, I totally missed a day. For some reason, I completely abandoned my camera on March 24. And March 27, the sleeping Ewan, that’s Aaron’s photo.

While a large goal of the project is to take a photo each day, another goal is to keep my camera in hand. To keep recording our lives and the beauty around. To keep watching our little man grow. To keep sharing bits of our everyday. Even missing a few days here and there, those goals are still being met. The project continues.

A few favorites from the month:

I love this one because it is such a representation of our lives at this moment. A new board game, Dominion, popped up on our radar this past fall and it has been present ever since. Gracing our dining table during naps and after bed times. Calling me obsessed, that would probably be an understatement.

This one, well, it is just so our life right now. Our babe, on visits to the park, likes to hold hands and walk. Even if it takes 30 minutes to go one block, he walks, he loves it, and our backs always a little hunched to accommodate his short stature are adjusting.

This one, from our trip to Boston, makes me so happy. Aaron and I stopped for pizza on a fake date. As we strolled around the neighborhood Ewan, who was tired from a long day of traveling, fell asleep on Aaron’s back. We went out to dinner and he slept through the whole thing. He was there, but Aaron and I got to hold hands, talk, and not worry about feeding the babe or keeping him from throwing his water bottle on the floor.

Now, we are in April, the first day of the month was unseasonably warm, the trees and flowers started blooming. The photos to come this month will surely reflect that transition and I can’t wait. April is bound to be a great month!

Lovely Thing #3

Actually, I’m pretty sure this isn’t #3 at all, as I know I’ve made other lovely things in the past few weeks, but for the sake of this blog, and the moment, this is #3, at least as it is documented.

Presenting….

Baby Aviatrix

The cutest baby hat this world has seen.

Cutest Hat, Cutest Babe

On the cutest babe. A perfect match.

I used the Baby Aviatrix pattern which was an absolute blast to knit. Quick (just one day). No double pointed needles. AND, best of all, no seaming! Just perfect.

The yarn is my own, a handspun BFL from Crown Mountain Farms. And I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

A New Year

I don’t really have any resolutions this year. I decided that I’m not going to promise myself that I’m going to do something that I probably won’t end up doing, like losing weight or quitting my awful nail-biting habit. Really, what is the point in setting myself up for failure like that. Not only would the resolution go unachieved, but I would also, likely, suffer the guilt of not having achieved what I set out to. Nope, better to avoid all of that.

Just because I haven’t made a resolution doesn’t mean I don’t have goals. I do. Lots of them, in fact. And so, following the inspiration of a number of people out there who have created life lists, lists of things they want to accomplish before they go, I decided to do the same.

Here’s my list:

63. Take a cooking class.
64. Go to a sheep and wool festival.

It’s a long, unfinished list. Some things are big. Some are little. Some mundane. Some seem impossible. More will be added. Some will be deleted. Some will be accomplished. There is no timeline. There isn’t anything that has to be done today, tomorrow, or this year. It is just a list of things I have today that I want to do someday. I made it in the hope that it will help me focus, help me live each day fully, always being sure that I am doing things that make me happy, bring me joy, and leave me feeling fulfilled.

So I guess that that’s my goal for the year, for my life really. To live consciously, intentionally, being in the moment, and living this precious life that we all have to the fullest.

(And I will, of course, keep you all updated on my progress here. I have a separate page for the list as well.)
