Project 365 – July

31 days in the month and only 29 photos above. I’ll blame pregnancy. Fatigue. Haze. Sleeping. There’s less time to take photos when I’m sleeping an extra few hours a day, right?! Right?! Guess at the end of the 365 I’ll just have to tack on an extra couple days, or month, to make up for the loss.

Even still, I’m grateful that I’m thinking about it, that the camera (or iPhone) gets taken out, often, to capture our days. It is good, even if a few days go missing.

So much to capture these days, but much less time to grab the camera. Boy can that boy move! It’s hard to keep up and keep him out of trouble while I grab for the camera. I’m sure it’ll get even harder as he continues to speed up, but I look forward to trying to get his shenanigans documented. They sure are funny!

Here’s a few favorites from the month:

I couldn’t have said it better myself, though with a babe that doesn’t nurse all.night.long anymore, I’m starting to feel the fog of months of interrupted sleep lifting. Nine hours. It is glorious.

His first chocolate cookie and what an experience it was. Some shovel, he savored. Glad to know I have that kind of kid, even if I’m not that kind of adult.

When I’m dressing Ewan in the morning I always tell him about his pockets and how they are a good place for all of his treasures. This acorn, it is the first treasure I found as I emptied pockets to do laundry. I hope there are many more.

We’re already well into August, seriously, where does time go. As much as I am enjoying the summer, I’m also enjoying the fact that it is winding down. Easy to say as excessive heat warnings press down on us. I’m ready to stop sweating.

This month summer came, officially. And with it, so did all the things of summer. Picnics. Ice cream. Trips to the beach. Sprinklers. Fountains. Parks. Storms. It’s Ewan’s second summer, though his first, real, introduction and, so far, I think he’s a fan. As am I. I’m such a fan of sharing summer with this little guy.

A few favorites from the month:

A big storm yielded a wonderful, beautiful rainbow. Aaron noticed it and made sure to share the sight with me.

Ewan got a taste of his first frozen treat. At first, he didn’t know what to think of it. Cautious and hesitant, as usual. It didn’t take long, as you can see.

I continued stitching on a project that I can’t wait to finish. It is slow. So many other things are cropping up and demanding my immediate attention, but it is fun and I know I’ll enjoy it once it is done.

A great month! We transitioned from spring to summer and back again. Trees blossomed and plants grew, in many ways, we all did as well. Ewan took his first few steps, he will be a full-fledged walker very very soon. I continued finding my way on my creative path. We had many adventures, and even more picnics, as a family. A good month, indeed.

My favorites from the month highlight Ewan’s growing personality.

I can’t . . .

get enough . . .

of this little man.

Oh, the opinions he has. The determination. The focus. The concentration. It is unmatched and unparalleled. He has focus that I envy as I flit from thing-to-thing, project-to-project.

It is a true pleasure to watch him grow, to watch his personality unfold. I’m curious what the next month will bring. Excitement, that’s for sure. Running, a good possibility.

I have to say, I really like this project. I like looking through the photos. I like seeing so many moments captured, moments that might have been long forgotten otherwise. I like watching the way my babe has changed over the course of time. Seeing how big he looks in the carrier now, compared to just a handful of months ago. I like it now and, I’m hoping, that my little one will like it too. I hope he’ll like seeing so many photos of himself, really getting to know what his life was like when he was small.

A few favorites from the month (all of the babe this time):

This is the first time he got to explore pouring with rice. I just love the concentration he has when he encounters something new.

And this one, Ewan was just mesmerized as we banged a stick against the fence. He loved the noise it made. Now, when we walk by that fence, he always finds a stick, picks it up and gives it to us. Anxious to hear the sound again. So.much.fun.

And here he is, ready to ride. It was our first solo bike ride, to meet Aaron for my birthday lunch. A special lunch, a special day, a special ride. The best!

Already we are a handful of days into May. I believe this is the month that Ewan is going to let go of our fingers and his walker wagon and start walking on his own. We are so close. Good times are ahead, that’s for sure.

Project 365 – March

(click on the photo to head over to Flickr to see all the pictures)

Three months down but this one, like the last, has a few little bumps. First of all, I totally missed a day. For some reason, I completely abandoned my camera on March 24. And March 27, the sleeping Ewan, that’s Aaron’s photo.

While a large goal of the project is to take a photo each day, another goal is to keep my camera in hand. To keep recording our lives and the beauty around. To keep watching our little man grow. To keep sharing bits of our everyday. Even missing a few days here and there, those goals are still being met. The project continues.

A few favorites from the month:

I love this one because it is such a representation of our lives at this moment. A new board game, Dominion, popped up on our radar this past fall and it has been present ever since. Gracing our dining table during naps and after bed times. Calling me obsessed, that would probably be an understatement.

This one, well, it is just so our life right now. Our babe, on visits to the park, likes to hold hands and walk. Even if it takes 30 minutes to go one block, he walks, he loves it, and our backs always a little hunched to accommodate his short stature are adjusting.

This one, from our trip to Boston, makes me so happy. Aaron and I stopped for pizza on a fake date. As we strolled around the neighborhood Ewan, who was tired from a long day of traveling, fell asleep on Aaron’s back. We went out to dinner and he slept through the whole thing. He was there, but Aaron and I got to hold hands, talk, and not worry about feeding the babe or keeping him from throwing his water bottle on the floor.

Now, we are in April, the first day of the month was unseasonably warm, the trees and flowers started blooming. The photos to come this month will surely reflect that transition and I can’t wait. April is bound to be a great month!
